Once you’ve located the apex, Parkell’s Thermique is ready to take over, to give you a fast, dense fill with no smoke or flame. The Thermique’s unique sealed finger switch allows the tip to heat up instantly to the precise temperature only when it’s in the canal. It uses a proportional feedback system to maintain the tip temperature to +/-10°C.

Here’s how:

Simply select the condenser tip that corresponds to the canal size and set the stop 5-7mm short of the apex. After cementing the master cone and placing one or two accessory cones, insert the condenser into the canal and depress the finger control for 2-3 seconds. Then push the tip to the preselected depth. The combination of heat and pressure forces the softened gutta percha against the sidewalls and into the lateral canals, leaving a dense, fused fill. Once finger pressure is released, the condenser cools as fast as it heated up. Twist it out of the canal and you’re ready to backfill.

The Thermique gives you plenty of battery capacity (3 amp hours), so you can work a full day without recharging. A warning light tells you when the battery is getting low. If you ignore this light, the device will automatically shut itself off when the power gets too low to maintain the selected temperature. Special safety circuits automatically disable the device in case of electrical malfunction, and prevent use when the charger is plugged into the back of the device.

Parkell’s Thermique comes with a five-year warranty on parts and labor. (The tips and battery are only warranteed against defects.)
